syphon o ring
can some body clear some thing up for me. Is it the left tank that has the bad O ring. Also when i am driving i can hear the fuel pump buzzing. Well its starts buzzing after about ten mins. I have removed the unit in the left tank and where i think the O ring is has a black plastic unit not the white i have seen in most pictures. Was wondering if this is after market. I cant check on the display as most of the pixels are dead. Thank you in advance. dave king |

For clarity: right side is behind driver in England, the siphon jet is on the opposite side. You need to determine if your gauge is reading correctly and the siphon jet is not working or the gauge is reading wrong and the siphon is working fine.
The way to do this is using the hidden menu 6. If your cluster can't read then maybe worth scan software you can see the tank level in liters.

Hi
If it runs out of fuel but the gauge say's quarter, what level sensor would be giving this false reading. When i had the left hand unit out i lifted the float but needle did not move. Thank you |

It won't - it's "buffered" so it can't change quickly - you would need to move it a bit then wait several seconds or minutes.

Equal chance that the sender unit is reading high. You determine which is the case by monitoring test 6 or by running out of gas and look inside the tank to determine which case it will be: Starting with the condition of car starved of fuel and quits but fuel gauge says 1/4 tank. Case one, probably most common: Siphon jet failure: you actually do have 1/4 tank of fuel but the car can't access it because it's stuck in the left tank. Test six will confirm this condition with left reading for example 17L of fuel but the right side will read 000. Case two: left sender unit reading incorrectly: when this happened to me, it was reading approximately 10L high and I saw about 3/16 tank of fuel. Test six will show 10-17L of fuel but again right side will show 000. Since the feedback is almost identical here is how you can tell the difference without opening the tank: 1) test six will show 1.4L on the right into the left has about 27L. If those numbers don't jive it's case 2. 2) the buffered and unbuffered test Duc values will be far off if it's case two. 3) in case two you will likely see two strange things happen: 1) fill tank completely and if shows 3/4 or: you are close to empty and the DTE doesn't drop for many miles.

If you watch the test six left/right values they will change instantly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
