Not redundant. They run on two different paths. And I also noticed that the fingers almost "bite" into the track. He does provide grease though to lower friction and increase longevity though. Time will tell...

Yeah, I wondered about this too... but haven't seen a really good close-up shot of the fingers so reserving judgement....

Hey @crystalworks, any chance you can send me your worn out sensor ring? i would love to try the relay contact fix i mentioned above w/o having to destroy my still working one.

Sure. PM me your infos. I had you in mind after completion and so did not discard the old ring.

Nope. Those appear to be braided metal. These are just thin metal tabs with fingers.

Anyway, this appears to have remedied the SAS codes though I wont know for sure until I put some miles on the truck. I did read the life data via the Foxwell and the sensor was doing what it is supposed to.

My contacts were VERY worn at 118,000 miles. All the fingers were worn off completely. The kit appears to be quality and it comes with a nice T6 driver so at least you get a tool out of too. Kind of expensive for what it is... but it's only half the price of a new sensor so I can't fault the seller much.

Thanks for your feedback Crystalworks. Although I'm not getting SAS codes yet, but at 140k miles my sensor has to be on borrowed time. I ordered this repair kit, and that will be my weekend project next week. Gosh, I'm always looking for something to do on my X5 .
