Tranny info 6HP26

Hi,
I am just sharing this website I found while researching the ZF6HP26. I mostly agreed with all that's written here, not bad information and could serve as good basic knowledge about the transmission. I did a solenoid kit/fluid service at 85K because of bad shifting also change the seals that connect the valve body to the clutches. I plan to keep this X5 for more years; next tranny fluid service is at 145K I might do the Zip kit that they talk in this post to keep it up to date. About 28K more to go till then. Anyways hope this help clear out any doubts you might have about the maintenance about the 6HP26 Everything about your ZF 6HP26, 6HP19, 6HP28 transmission issues | BMW LOGIC7

Could please let me know where you bought the solenoids? I'm planning to do a fluid/filter service and would like to take the opportunity to swap the solenoids too.

Thanks!

Excellent, thanks. That's all I was lacking - I got all the mechatronic seals. I don't have any transmission issues but since planning to refresh trans fluid and filter, better to do the seals and solenoids as well while at it. Did that on my 335i E92 with great results.

Its better to do preventative maintenace than actual repair. That way you actually plan for it.

Looks like the article has been updated here and there from the last time I read it about a year ago.

I’ve used Ford Mercon SP on my e70 with the same 6hp26 as their Navigator has the same transmission by ZF as well. Did all the seals and filter and was very smooth after.

Hi, thanks for the update. How did you find the shifting after the solenoids and seal replacement? I thinking about it and rebuilding the valve body.

Does our transmission have this solenoid foam protection sleeve strip (zf ZF 1068327241)?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ZF-Solenoid...2/163511852744

Its function is to reduce the amount of sediment that would get into the solenoids and into the valve body. The sediment is the greyish paste typically in the bottom of the pan as a result of wear in the clutches, gears and bearings.

After replacing the solenoids/ filter/ gaskets and fluid flush with ZF fluid resetting the adaptations it work like brand new.
