Let me know if you have an issue with the USB pig tails corrupting USB sticks. Mouse's keeps doing it. He's tried all sorts of formats, Fat, Fat32, NTFS to no avail. Works for a bit, then corrupts. We installed the extension pig tail from the old Avant 2 setup though so maybe it's not compatible with the 4 for some reason? Told him to try direct to the head unit's pigtail and see if it changes.

I think any android system with the BMW CAN bus adapter knows when reverse is active. I argued with the AVIN phone support jockey about why it needed an additional signal when the CAN bus adapter already knew. He said their system didn't work that way. Now we know he was full of ****, just as I expected.

Got a chance to calibrate and test the Avin Avant-4 DDVR-2 camera system Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) app. The lane departure and collision avoidance work really good but I had to turn the sound notification off as some sweet Chinese lady was screaming at me.

I hope future software releases will allow for English and the ability to choose normal beep notifications.

It's a little lengthy but the install of one of these in a factory navigation truck is a bit lengthy so I suppose it's fitting. I am not a videographer so was just trying to get the information across in a way that was understandable. It's not a pretty video at all. Also, let me know if you'd like a PDF guide/thread like my Avin Avant 2 install thread. I would be able to do it fairly easily as most of the pictures and descriptions could be recycled with a few caveats.

Thanks. The more info out there the better. Wish I could edit some of the info in about the rear camera auto switching via the canbus and being able to power it directly via the head unit cam +12v wire... but what are you going to do.

Think I'll add the info in the description though. Couldn't hurt.

^Bummer. Agreed though. With android units... support is fairly non-existent in any traditional capacity and quality.

For offline GPS I use GoogleMaps. Seems to work just fine around town. I don't always hotspot to the car so it is using offline maps and it has not lost me anywhere in town as of yet. Just throwing another option out.

I use always use hot spot as well so not an issue for me, however, I am still working a few bugs with USB connectivity as well as dash cam issues. Speed is def faster with the Avant 4 compared to Avant 2, but previous unit was much better out of the box compared to the newer unit. Hoping an update will launch soon.

I am also using Google Maps with offline maps currently and is working fine until AVIN sorts out my issues or refunds me my money for the iGo maps option they sold me. Agreed, all these Android aftermarket head units are pathetic on support, AVIN is no different. I was hoping they would have been better.

All 3 of my USB devices seem to work correctly. I added the USB Aux 3RCA to my 3rd remaining USB connection mounted in the original cigarette lighter receptacle in the center console. The RCA video and audio jacks plug into AV IN and I tested it with audio only from my iPad and works great. I still need to find a device that sends audio and video over a 3.5mm jack to test the video. At least the AVIN button does something now. The USB cable just plugged into the last remaining USB cable from my head unit and is used for simple phone charging while in the car. I could plug in a USB thumbdrive into that port for some temporary media I guess. (Don't mind the debris, I took the shot before I cleaned it up)

I had to take everything back apart again to add the external microphone and route the wires correctly (pull the Avant-4, pull the glovebox, remove the A pillar cover and take apart the overhead console) but it came out good and probably has better quality than the internal microphone so I guess the internal microphone failure may have forced me to do it right after all. (at least Google Assistant and my phone calls can understand me now) I didn't want to remove the factory microphone in case I toss this thing in the rubbish can and go back to stock so I put the microphone in the alarm ultrasonic cover between the module and the grill and drilled 3 small holes in the cover.
