Looking For Brake Bleed Procedure After Line Replacement

So after replacing both my rear brake lines I've tried to locate a procedure initiated by ISTA/D for bleeding brakes but I can't find any info. I've tried vacuum and pressure bleeding but can't get the air out of these dang lines. I mean, there are no air bubbles but when I drive the car the pedal goes to the floor and it feels like I only have front brakes. Definitely not the braking power before the lines rusted.

Can anyone share the location in ISTA I need to look? Or the proper search term?

Thanks

andrewwynn will become famous soon enough
The problem is If the fluid ever got too low you'll get air Into the abs block. There are two procedures to run to activate the abs block and the abs pump. I'll look in the PDF Repair manual and see if I can find the process.
  1. Connect BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS).
  2. Call up service function Bleeding ABS/DSC3 Hydraulics.
  3. Connect bleeding unit to expansion tank and switch on.
  4. To flush system completely see FLUSHING BRAKE SYSTEM COMPLETELY.
  5. To only bleed front or rear system see BLEEDING FRONT OR REAR-AXLE BRAKE CIRCUIT.
  6. Switch off bleeder unit and disconnect from expansion tank.
  7. Check brake fluid level.
  8. Close expansion tank.

Flushing Brake System Completely
  1. Connect bleeder hose with container to bleed valve on rear right brake caliper.
  2. Open bleed valve and flush until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
  3. Close bleeder valve.
  4. Follow same procedure at rear left, front right, then front left calipers.

Bleeding Front Or Rear-Axle Brake Circuit
  1. Connect bleeder hose with container to bleed valve on right brake caliper.
  2. Open bleed valve.
  3. Run bleeding routine with BMW Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) with bleeder valve open.
  4. After running routine, press brake pedal 5 times to stop. Clear, bubble-free brake fluid must flow out.
  5. Close bleeder valve.
  6. Repeat procedure at left caliper.

Andrewwynn, unfortunately just getting back to follow up on this post. I appreciate you taking the time to post.

I broke down and ended up taking it to the dealer to have them bleed it. I went through all the steps in ISTA/D and even found a way to engage the ABS unit while pumping. The directions I'd found, just like yours, didn't appear to follow any menu(s) I could find in ISTA/D.

What I have deduced is that there are 2 people required to perform this type of brake bleed procedure. I believe that is where I messed up because I was attempting to do this all by myself. Tried engaging the ABS and pumping the brake pedal at the same time the brakes should be bled.

Again, steps not laid out in ISTA/D but I was able to get confirmation that they did have 2 people performing the operation.

Hope this helps someone else in the future.

Second thought on this topic is that the 2 little holes in the plastic underbelly is where the road salt/brine gets to the brake lines to accelerate the corrosion. I would recommend rinsing these areas through the holes AND after dry, spray with CorrosionX heavy duty.

Did just see this and will have to look into the hardware https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...sta-works.html and will have to look into the Foxwell NT520.
