SOLVED Air Suspension Finally Got Me

pm @eod. He did basically b the exact same thing exploring with foxwell. He had like 8 mo pregnant wife at the time and it took a couple days to resolve. She was not amused (though I can admit I was). (at least once he got it fixed)

So I attempted to lower the ride height on my E53 today so it would look snazzier and I could be like all the cool kids. Lowered it okay using the Foxwell and zero'd the ride height out. Plus the DSC was unhappy and threw an invalid ride height code, the EHC threw 64 EHC Distortion plausibility, got a SLS inactive error, and the DSC threw up the flat tire indicator. Beautiful.



No problem, it's kinda harsh... I'll just set it back to where it was. Start messing with it, first tried to calibrate the ride height but that didn't work. Kept telling me the measurements were within tolerance of the target (708mm), no adjustment needed. This is even though the front was sitting at (690mm). Ugh. Okay, every time you try and calibrate it puts the system into Line mode and transport mode. I turn those off. I go into the house to get a drink and come back and the air is out of all 4 corners. They are sitting on the tires. SWEET! Now the three adjustment lights are blinking non stop and nothing happens.



I am hoping I just have to start the truck and it will let me mess with it some more as I was trying to adjust things with the truck off but with a charger on to hold voltage. Wife says the truck is loud and she can smell the exhaust in the house even though I have a fan blowing towards the garage door and the truck backed up to almost being outside the garage, need a level floor remember. Fine.

Sucks, CW. This is basically where I am at right now! SLS (code 64) and FTM lights on with both rears riding lower than low (fronts are high). My plan right now is to replace both rear bags (suspect original @117k miles) and replace front ride sensors. *possibly* going to throw a control module at it as well. Not sure when I’ll get to these, but have all parts to do so. I’m anxious to track your progress!

If I have to start replacing mechanical parts that were working fine 24 hours ago, and after hearing Jopecasa's story, this thing is getting BC Racing coil overs. I LOVE the air suspension, I drive this thing over curbs every now and then, but I don't want to be driving and have the system destroy axles or other parts.

Edit: Seems I may have borked the system because I had a bad front left ride height sensor? Voltage is within spec, but are off from the other sensors. This was before I messed with anything.

1. Front Left = 3.28v
2. Front Right = 1.72v
3. Rear Left = 2.29v
4. Rear Right = 2.45v

Or I have a bad offset count or something?

1. Front Left = -130mm
2. Front Right = 93mm
3. Rear Left = 138mm
4. Rear Right = 154mm

I read this thread: 4.8is SLS strange operating mode after calibration attempt. And it seems the offset count can be an important factor and should be set to 0 before calibrations? Anyone have experience with that or can tell me if my front left has sh*t the bed?
