What software/cable for E53 series coding?

I have rheingold and a USB-ODBII cable, but can't do any programming, or re-coding.

Can someone who actually has done it please tell me what I need, be it ICOM, or whatever? I think I have a problem with my DME/EWS, no start condition, but power is fine, ignition backprobe shows power to the Starter, so I am now stumped.

I have replaced the MAF, the fuel pump, and TB, it ran fine for a test, then I tucked the DME and relays back into the box, and now - nada. Will not turn over.

I use NCSExpert and PASoft 1.4 for coding (what little I do...), via this cable: -

This cable works fine for any K-Line system (like on the E53) but won't work on newer cars - for newer cars you need the K+DCAN version...

HTH...

Coding DME and EWS

Knowing what you know about coding, and the fact that my E53 won't start, how would or should I go about testing or coding?

My cable is essentially a K cable, pins 7/8 are jumpered, and it does 'read' the info from the E53, but with Rheingold I can't program with this cable. So I think I need an ICOM cable or something else. Hoping someone with Rheingold and E53 experience can give me some input?

It doesn't sound like you need to code anything (just yet) but some basic diagnostics is going to be a good start. Are there any significant codes showing when you query the DME?

Have you pulled the DME and relays back out of the e-box and checked connectors etc.? There are no coincidences when working on cars like this....
