wpoll will become famous soon enough
Those particular trim parts are designed to be unpainted black plastic to hid stone chips. Many manufactures now build their SUV/SAVs this way, for the same reason.

Well, that and cost....

Yesterday I went through with disassembling the center console trim in order to wrap it, but as I was removing everything I ran into some problems. The main one being that many of these little zinc plated U shaped brackets were snapped clean in half. Now that I am back on reassembling it I went to newtis to see if I could find part numbers but instead they just referred to them as "metal nuts." Anyone know of an inexpensive place to get some of these and what the part number would be? (Picture of said object attached.)

Those are available at basically any auto parts store. Often referred to as tinnerman clips, or speed nuts. https://www.amazon.com/Swordfish-605...7901650&sr=8-1
