Great! Thanks, gang! I値l take a look tomorrow in better light behind the Expansion Tank. At this point, I知 sure I must have dislodged it trying to get the hoses off the old tank. I remember it falling down and rattling down below when I pulled the tank up and out. This makes the most sense.

The tube could easily have been in the tank and blew out at the rupture. I知 surprised how big the gap in the crack was when I got the tank out.

Maybe have a look in the old tank and see if you can see where the parts came from, although if the white item is the float (and it looks to be...) it's pretty grubby for an item that has been submerged in coolant. Perhaps these parts are from a previous expansion tank failure and got left behind during an earlier replacement...
