question after the instrument cluster replacement

Hi,
I just got the cluster replaced from the dealer. I found out there are about 20 miles different from the old cluster reading. is it normal? I do think the dealer run the mileage reading from the computer. But how do I check?
If the mileage from the old and new clusters don't match, is there any light or warning coming up?

thanks

If there is a descrepancy problem then it will show up in the dash with a warning light. If there's no light then I wouldn't loose sleep over a 20 mile difference.

I had ordered a new cluster on Ebay, installed it and it sets off the computer. I just want to be able to start the car so I can get it to the dealer, but the navi is asking for a code? please help

I got the same problem when I replaced a cluster at my stealer's . I believe the tamper dot will not illuminate unless a discrepancy of more than 100 miles is detected. I wouldn't worry about it you're fine ...

Have you tried putting the old cluster back in to see if the car will start?

Mileage discrepency

Hi,
when an instrument cluster is replaced the vehicle data redundantly stored in another control unit is replicated. Transfer of this information to the recording unit during normal drive cycles is not continous and therefore mileage discrepency can be expected. However an error of <100miles on a vehicle with a service schedule of at least 15K and a lifespan hopefully exceeding several hundred thousand miles can only be considered a pedantic complaint.
Regards, Peter.
