DINAN exhaust part number...

YES, I SEARCHED AND SEARCHED AND SEARCHED the forum for the DINAN exhaust part number. After two years of searching, I am hours away from owning a WELL-used, presumably unmarked set of e53 DINAN mufflers. Anyway, because I laughed off the pricing of black DINAN tips on ebay like 95 days ago...now I am having an impossible time finding such tips. I cannot even figure out who had a boatload of them for sale on eBay because the auctions died >90 days ago. So, I guess if you REALLY want to make a fast friend, you could stop hoarding your full set of black ceramic DINAN exhaust tips and sell them directly to me Otherwise, I figured someone might have some old documentation or tech data that specified the e53 exhaust part number from DINAN to help me inch closer to sourcing the tips which it appears DINAN stopped offering separately 10+ years ago. Soooooo, who's my new best friend?!?!?

Sorry Adam, on the e53, the original Dinan tips are welded stainless with laser etched logos. The black ones were either for a newer model or were knockoffs. I passed on a Dinan exhaust locally just because one pair of the tips had been replaced with stainless tube.

Thanks, CW! Hopefully my pic appears. I only have an underneath pic to share. I believe that they are DINAN with the tips poorly painted in order to add ///M decals by PO. I might have to live without the DINAN advertising, however, I would like to get them appropriately cleaned up. Would you (or anyone else) advise me on how to do so? Paint thinner/steel wool? Or, should I have the whole things sandblasted? Sounds like I'll be abandoning tips. Thanks for feedback!

ALSO, I figured when messing with exhaust, I should finally get an x-pipe added. I cannot seem to find what others are using for this, but was interested in picking this up:

Can I get any input on how worried I should be about it being listed for a 4.4i and not also my 4.8is??? I don't think their site lists ANYTHING for a 4.8is. Thanks!

No additional love, OK...I’ll give steel wool + vinegar a try. AND, response from Schmiedmann was this:

“The 4,8i system is different from all the others sadly

The size diameter and angle of the piping is not the same as the others,

The connections to the cats , and to the rear pipes will not be compatible unless you rework the entire unit .”

Sooooooo, I though that others had added 4.8 exhaust to 3.0 with little or no trouble. If that is true, it sounds inconsistent. Can anyone with experience handling these exhausts confirm or deny that there is a better option than this product for adding an x-pipe and WHERE to find the appropriate solution for a 4.8is? TIA.

When it comes to exhaust....muffler shops can do wonders and work cheap all things considered. Modifying it to work will be cake compared to other's projects like mine. Mine are squeeeeezed in. LOL (Corsa exhaust from 2015 Dodge Charger.)

My other thought was to steal the “x” from this and see if it could be made to work?



...but I am not even knowledgeable enough to know if something like that could work, as my the only aptitude that I could leverage is my slick recognition of the letter “x”! COULD this corvette x-pipe be an option?

That could be cut and made to work. Hell, ask the muffler shop if they could use the flanges/pipes you don't use and haggle a deal for them to install.
