Shark Injector

Anyone have any experience with this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-shark-in...52019_EP_25998

?

Any actual improvement? I notice they don't publish any numbers other than raising the rev limit to 7000 rpm. Not sure how good an idea that is, but if throttle response is actually improved, it might be worth it.

andrewwynn will become famous soon enough
I would be very surprised if anything works through the obd connection. I tried to find a plug in tubing chip and found a good handful of YouTube videos with zero percent success. Look for an independent YouTube video

Thanks. This thing is supposed to put a new tune into your ECM.

I put Dinan tunes in my DME and EGS on the E46 and made a huge difference. They offer both for our E53 chassis as well.

The Stage 1 DME tune raises the rev limit 240 RPM and removes the top speed limiter and has a slightly more agressive timing map (premium fuel is suggested) The Stage 1 EGS tune also raises the RPM gear change demand and shortens shift duration. Not a big HP gain but you can always go with the updated throttle body and a Stage 3 tune that brings a substantial gain.

Cost for Stage 1 is just over $100 for each and you will need a Dinan authorized dealer to flash the tunes. Many BMW dealership service departments are authorized Dinan dealers.

I did about an hour of research earlier this year on this and other "special tuners" reading actual customer reviews. In most cases honest reviewers said little or no difference. Nothing like the claims. For some who liked them I am guessing it was mostly placebo effect.

I Sharked my 2005 3.0 several years ago. There was an all around improvement to my X5, which is basically stock except a performance panel air filter. Throttle response is noticeably better, a slight accelation performance improvement and a little better gas mileage. Overall I feel it was well worth cost for greater driving enjoyment.

I kinda figured that's why they weren't publishing any HP numbers. Only number they publish is that they increase the rev limit to 7000. "Increased throttle response" is pretty subjective. If there is actual power gain they should be able to back it up with dyno numbers.
