The change in tire pressure on or off the vehicle is very little if any. The tire is flexible so the tire expands in other areas. There are some exceptions but change would be 1-2 pounds at most. I would increase tire pressure at least 10 pounds over recommended pressure.

Water tank and 50 PSI was and is the best to find a S L O W leak., This step has been around since 1920....at least. Maybe before with bike tires.

DIY with a hose, spray bottle, a little Dawn dish detergent will get you 50% of the way there and will take approx 2x time.

indeed been doing it with my bikes since i was about 9 years old, think that the garages are just lazy

On my '16 Tundra I had one tire that had a tiny leak that took three or four days to materialize on the dash thru TPMS. Tried all the usual, new valve, re-seat tire, etc. In the end I took the soapy water route, applied with a 6" paint brush and after 10 minutes of brushing and observing found the culprit, a small hole on the inside shoulder. So, yes, dunking is better but hard with a giant 20" wheel/tire combo.

Shops, there is no money in flat repairs for them so anything to push you away is a good approach!
We really have to talk you into getting off that Island and onto the mainland somewhere that has a normal availability of BMW parts.

Aha like you plan, 17" still a tad heavy , and took it 6 days for me to get the ding so must be a small hole, i will also try you soapy water and brush tactic....then go down the off and dunk route too
