Does SAS (Steering Angle Sensor) need reset after an alignment?
In that article, they claim that Steering Angle Sensors (SAS) need to be reset after performing a wheel alignment. And in this other page they list the X5 as one of the vehicles that require a SAS reset, but I am not sure if that applies to ALL X5's or only some models. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not this SAS reset applies to our E53 X5s. Thanks!

Required, no. If it’s off slightly the car can cope. It’s good to have it zero’d but unless there was a huge change in the alignment it won’t be critical.

I think reset vs calibrated was being confused. I’m bi not even sure which is which. The lock to lock alignment procedure probably needs to be done after a few different procedures. Usually you can tell because trifecta lights come on.
