Exhaust Cutout
Do I need to re-code any of the exhaust sensors? And finally what size do I need for the OEM exhaust on a 3.0? Link to the site: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...pdk=AAAABgQEAg Sent from my iPhone using Xoutpost.com

I don’t recall the exhaust combining together on my M54 motors. I thought they are separate from head to the tailpipe. Heard of people adding cross pipes but not sure if on the 8 or the 6.

I meant like at the very end where it splits out to the mufflers. Now that I think about it, it’s almost impossible to fit one of those in that distance. Do I guess I only need a single one

To make any sense the cut out needs to be before the muffler. You would need two one for each bank (or add a combining y pipe and another to split back to the two mufflers. ).
I don’t know enough about exhaust systems to advise on if combining Into one pipe and splitting back would be a problem for the system to work properly and I would not recommend mixing the two banks together without somebody with history and experience doing exactly that procedure.

Before the cat would be very difficult and would sound terrible anyway. After resonator would probably be best IMO.

Before you take this route, have you performed the Golf Tee mod on the exhaust flap? Google it for an E46. I ASSUME an E46 330 and your x5 have the similar exhaust/muffler system where the flap inside in the dual tip opens only at certain RPM ranges to allow more air flow/better meaner sound... You can look inside your dual tips and see if the flap exists and or is closed. If you open it fully manually and put a golf tee in the vacuum line then you will like the sound more. But don't forget it IS just a 6cyl and will not bark like a 8 cyl

Are you sure about that?

Cut outs should be placed right after the cats, one for each bank.

It does sound nice. What have you modded? A factory M54 with factory exhaust is so quiet compared to this.
Mind you a V8 sounds still a bit throatier... This 6cyl sounds great for a 6 cyl. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
