Rear hatch won't open 04 X5

I have to check manual..Is there a manual over ride ? My key fob never opened my rear hatch.....I always put my hand above the rear plate and pushed the button and it opened..
Now its not doing that..

What about the button on center console? Or are you talking about the lower part?

If the latch button gets water in it the computer will disable the duct so the tailgate upper won't keep opting itself. If the dash button works that's almost certainly the issue.

I had this problem and I simply removed the rubber button cover and the problem never came back

I posted these pages recently but cannot locate them right now, so here's some images from Qsilver7...





Using these manual (emergency) latches will get old real quick, so yeah, the suggestion from the other wil be more relevant - hunting down the fault.
