Business CD Wood Trim Removal

All, in the middle of an overall facelift on my '05 X5 and need some help. Doing the 3M satin black wrap on the trim pieces and have most of them out; will do the console and tray cover this weekend following the great instructions on Xoutpost! However not sure how to get the trim off the covers the cd player over the MID display. Searched but could not find any specifics, any advise would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

wpoll will become famous soon enough
I think you need to remove the MID, then remove the CD Player, then you can get at the screws that hold the CD trim lid in place....

i am voting for the OP to not do these tacky modifications. spend the time and money maintaining your vehicle to a high standard.

when i bought my X, I had to spend many hours removing cheap carbon wrap on the panels and ghastly flat black plastidip on the wheels that was applied incorrectly. dont !

and dont be installing no M badges either.

I recommend that if you want to go the carbon fiber route that you find someone with the plain trim and use it. Sell your wood trim to cover the cost and keep the X5 parts alive for the community.

Disagree with you on the vinyl wrap for the trim. Agree with the plastidip wheels.

Vinyl wrap on trim can look very nice if done properly using a quality vinyl. Besides that, buying a set of new trim in a more desirable finish is a considerable expense. Good luck OP, be sure to take before/after pictures.

agreed that's exactly what I'm currently trying to do, once I find some nice carbon fiber wrapped trim I will most likely sell the spare wood one I have on here for the community

Actually I think the satin black wrap is far superior to wood grain and a significant savings over a replacement wood trim set. My car is black on black, and I changed the shifter to a BMW black leather wrapped unit too. My original trim is worthless as it is cracked in multiple places on every piece. Don't know how rims hijacked this thread but for the record mine are OEM and like new, even after a quarter million miles. I'll keep looking for a cosmos black trim set but until I find one at a reasonable cost the 3M wrap was a HUGE upgrade.
