I would much prefer to use the 12 volt Halo wire that's inside the housing if possible unless it's not 12 volt and actually something less.

FYI, I confirmed that you can just wire the halo lights to the OE Halo wiring inside the headlight unit, so there's no need to bring the Halo wires through the back cover.

Halo lights work just fine. Powered with those wires

Correct, that will work fine. Did you have to code out cold check monitoring for the halos? Your assumption as to why I ran mine outside the access housing was correct. I have mine wired to a relay for ACC +12v and also to the cabin lighting so the halos fade on when you unlock the car.

Sorry I didn't respond, computer was down for awhile (NVME drive died) and then it took awhile to remember the password.

There is a local listing here for a pair of LCI headlights that looked really clean and I was thinking of snagging them...till I got to the description. Heat gun damage on one corner, and pics of partially melted lens corner lol!

Hey mate I know this is and old post, but I got a 2006 with the lens stained on the inside and I got some lens from ebay to replace them with; It wasn't clear for me but is this process for the face-lifted version of the headlights?

Yes, facelifted (permaseal) version of the headlights. It's an ordeal so be prepared if you undertake it.

I'm willing to do it and I had one question; I was checking your pics and I saw that you put on part 13 some picks and separator to remove the black bezel.


Did you cut the plastic or something? because i don't see a seam that join the black bezel to the housing at all, it seems to be one piece so wanted to double check before i start the process.

Nice job. I did a similar thing on my pre-LCI but despite removing the damn thing about ten times and re-sealing it, it'd still get water inside. I gave up and bought a cheap used one off eBay. The lens is shit but I'm gonna use the Cerakote kit on it that I used on the passenger side unit that I had to replace with another eBay unit last year, because I ended up destroying that one trying to get the lens off. It turned out pretty good.

Yes. Step 4 describes heating up a razor blade and using that to cut the top portion of the "U channel" that the lens sits in. After that is removed it allows access to the back of the lens where you can begin removing the old sealant that Hella installed from the factory. That's usually where the cursing begins...

Ah i see, I thought you were cutting some sort of sealant that hold the bezel to the housing now I know its one piece and that it was cut.
