Parts and Tools, no idea
Second, I don't want to buy used front/pass door actuator because it eventually will fail again. I found parts from China but not sure they're worth it. Seems to be only two alternatives, really expensive OEM or used. Fixing the motors is not for me. Any ideas on what alternative parts maybe I can't find? BTW, are the front driver/passenger actuators interchangeable? I don't see how? Thanks, J

You can repair door actuator for $6-12 with motor/s from Amazon. Search for my thread use awr-fix search in the title. It’s not terribly difficult maybe 6/10. The used route only worth if you can confirm low miles or young age. Quality oem part is over $200

Front driver's and passenger's door lock actuators are definitely not interchangeable. In addition to the fact that they should at least by mirror images of one another, the passenger DLA does not have the port that interfaces with the key cylinder assembly (approx a Phillips #4 sort of thing).

that's what I thought. I'll keep searching. Not that important, DHC replaced, just me in the drivers seat. Thanks

Saw your other thread on that. Good luck finding one. But I'll say, based on the special timing tool set I bought when I needed to do the engine work on my M54 engine (similar in that it is practically required to have, yet I'd be using it only this one time) ... The price of a Chinese set on eBay can often be found so low, and then depending on where you live, you may be able to sell the set on Craigslist after you're finished with it. I don't know how those Chinese eBay items ship so cheaply, but there's no way I could sell and ship the item cost effectively on eBay or even here on xoutpost. Craigslist was the answer for me. I eBay-bought, used, and Craigslist-sold my engine timing kit for practically a break-even net cost. Part of the reason is that I could wait a couple/few weeks for the eBay item to arrive, and then the guy I sold it to on Craigslist literally wanted to be done with the job the next day so he could get his X5 back in service.

Good point. I may just let my local shop do it as I don't need the car. He's very, very reasonable. Kit on Amazon isn't bad cost. Does great work. Although, the Russian UTUBE, is quite interesting. He gets the job done albeit a little stressful IMHO.
