That scanner will likely only show generic OBD-II codes and none of the thousands of BMW specific codes... If you are seriously about maintaining your own BMW you need a BMW specific scanner...

+1 on that. It will be the best $150 you spend on your truck. Not to mention you can purchase other specific vehicles that can be added to the scanner.
