Front drive shaft

After replacing passenger side wheel bearing and fitting a new drive shaft it demolished the UV joint, the shaft will not lock into the diff allowing it to pull away, the spines seem.ok, what locks the shaft in place?

If you are talking about drive axles the inner splines have a circlip on the end that will compress when installing into the diff splines and will set in a groove in the diff.

Thanks for that, there is a fillip but it doesn't seem to be locking in, the old one took a bit of removing but this one just slots in and out with no resistance

Take some pictures and post them so we can see but maybe try using the clip from your old axle on your new axle and see if it will lock in. Are you having trouble with the right or left side?

Hi it's the NHS passenger side, sorry about the poor grammer and will try swapping the clip and take some photos

He's in the UK so the passenger side is the left side.

Have the image on your computer.
When you post make sure "Advance" mode is selected.
Click on the paper clip at the top of the message box
Follow the instruction to upload the image file from your computer.
Make sure the image is uploaded
Upload your post.

Hi when I try and go to advanced mode it says my token has expired, I have put two pics in a public album on line. Checking the shaft is not going in far enough, it stops before it reaches the oil seal. I have tried the old shaft and it's just the same it's as if there is something solid stopping it but I cannot see anything
