That's what they would have you believe, but this poor bloke not only lost his 2008 BMW X5 but also his house.

The burned down the house recall was mostly related to the heated EVAP system. I'm curious about this fan recall though. A 50A always on circuit just seems like a bad idea to me.

That appears to be an E70?

08 is e70 and why I think it is related to the ccv heater recall where BMW said specifically to park your car outside until they got to your recall fix.

Recall for CCV/PCV heater was later.

That was an update. See below:

Just some models of X5, probably just a particular engine but a lot of other BMWs used similar engine components because there were a lot of different models included in that recall but they were only E70 X5 variants (and I'm not sure how many actually self ignited).

Nice and I would get a high/low pressure check but also I hope you fixed the wire that apparently shorted out on the frame.

What you posted doesn't state that the cause of the fire was a ccv/pcv heater problem. What you posted stated that the cause of the fire was undetermined.

I'm crossing my fingers that it was the shaved wire I found. It was the constant +12v wire, and it had about a centimeter of insulation cleaned right off of it. It's a good enough hypothesis until proven otherwise for me.
