BMW E53 window help-advice needed from you E53 "Wizards" ;-)

Hello fellow E53 owners ....Summer's here!!!

I've got a 2001 X5-E53 and my rear driver side passenger window is not functioning.

I rolled it down one day, and when in the process of raising it...the window stopped midway. After a couple of flicks on the switch ...I opened the door and gave it a very firm-hard close and the window rolled completely up.

The next day when I tried to lower it... as I assumed it didn't work so I ordered a new regulator with the motor and also a new window door switch. before I began uninstalling the old regulator.... I plugged in the new one and the new one didn't operate.

I then tested the new one on the passenger rear door and it worked fine. I also swapped the old window switch over to the rear passenger side and saw it worked properly.

Any ideas about what could be the issue with the rear driver passenger door? I don't wont to uninstall the old regulator if that's not the problem....could it be something else?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated guys

thanks

symptoms of a broken wire. Usually in a bundle and often where it's connected to a device or where it goes through the hinge of the door.

if it has a relay that sounds like it, i dont if motor runs straight off module or it

if it has a relay that sounds like it, i dont if motor runs straight off module or if it has its own relay check wire diagram, relay could also behave like that or like other guy said maybe wiring i dont think it has sensors if it does that could could also be an issue, new e70 has sensors for safety jam protection etc if you hold window down it will stop or shut off motor not sure about e53 at least a fews things to think about check wiring diagram for relay or not

The relay is in the switch body. They tend to corrode from rain coming in open window. You can open up the switch and look for the telltale but I thought you said new not used replacement.

E53 does have safety switch at top but for finger protection. No limit to stop motor just torque limited
