Re: BMW & Michelin - there is Michelin plant not far from the BMW plant in SC. I've had good wear with my Michelins, both on my van & X5. (one of the few things the French got right) I have winter tires because I get snow. You have to pick something that will fit your needs. From the many threads on tires, the Toyos seem to have the most votes for a good all season tire. I hope you enjoy whatever your choice is.

I just spent $1400.00 on a new set about 6 weeks ago. They were made for the texas climate. I even ride pilots on my bike.....Phil

I have both on my 4.8is and use the Proxes as my winter set and the Diamaris as my summer tyres. They're both in identical OEM sizes on 20" rims. The Proxes are a softer tyre and work much better in cold, wet conditions but become 'squirmy' and loose when worked hard in warmer conditions. The Diamaris are a more robust 'performance' tyres staying consistent under hard driving conditions when the compound becomes hot.

In performance and feel they are really like 'chalk and cheese', in cold weather I much prefer the Proxes, but in hot weather they're horrible, the steering becomes all vague and I can feel the edges of the tyres breaking away inconsistently. But in cold weather the Diamaris harden and stop providing good grip.
