Cool 4.4 i Owner UK Hi!!

Hi picked up my 2000 plate x5 last month after trading in my e39 m5.
had a few probs with it so far
Key fob sometimes locks the car and somtimes doesnt so have ordered a new key which i pick up tuesday. whilst there it has having a complete scan to see any other problems
i suspect a possible knackered clock spring as none of the controls work on the steering wheel even the horn wont work.
also does anybody know if you can get the taillight bulb sockets seperatly as i rang my local steeler and he said i had to buy the whole light unit for £90+ quid!!!!
and finally have had a loss of all sound from radio and nav but at the moment have fixed it i think, fingers crossed!!!! just took the plug off and cleaned out the connectors.
oh and the rear wiper is a bit jumpy so will have to investigate
so apart from that its all good.
may see you at a local meet

BTW the rear wiper will be a loose nut under the small cap that you can see.

I tried to tighten the nut but still the same, tried it with the wiper off and it still stutters.
What rims you got on yours, I love the x5 with the recent snow we had I could go anywhere unlike in the m5

all the problems you describe are typical of a bad ignition switch

Relatively inexpensive and easy DIY repair. Do a search of ignition switch problems and make up your own mind.

Cheers,

Yes, but the M5 is a totally different car. We have both and they each serve their purpose. You may miss the power of the M when the weather and roads clear. Both great vehicles though. Good Luck and have fun!
