transmission failsafe program....again...
sorry for the new thread, old problem, but I am hoping with a fresh start someone may be able to help out. I tried some PM to some people here with no help. ok, so originally, my transmission went bad, I rebuilt it myself, I also re-built the valve body, and have a set of tested solenoids in there, I also tested the older solenoids and they are ok. now, as soon as I turn my car on, the TFP comes up, you can drive it, slowly, and reverse works great. but the car is stuck in 4th gear. I hooked up a GT1 scanner, I get a EGS code: 0F: EDS total current..... no idea what that is, and the diagnosis in the gt1 is no help either, that fault is nowhere to be found, I also tried a different EGS computer, and I get the same code. I also checked the wiring no problems. at least there is continuity. after reading a lot, I'm about to: 1.- test the battery (altho it starts perfectly everytime) 2.- test alternator (I replaced less than a year ago) 3.- replace wheel speed sensors (I happen to have a set of new ones) 4.- finally to get rid of the X somehow...don't wanna do that...love this car. Possible communication error in the DSC module. When My DSC module started to fail, it would put the transmission into failsafe. I opened the DSC module and replaced 4 surface mount caps. No problems ever since. (4 months ago) The four surface mount caps job was to keep noise off the incoming lines (wheel speed sensors.) (EMI and RFI bypass caps) Do you get a DSC/ABS warning at all come up on the dash? Even sporadically?

Even disconnected or malfunctioning MAF can cause TFP. I've experienced this.

@ Heis, nope, not getting anything but the TFP....not getting any other codes. or DSC lights.....
@ Wayne, I'm not getting codes for the MAF, will give it a good clean tho.... thanks guys for the ideas! they'll come handy !

Make sure you also reset/clear ADAPTATIONS, not just your fault codes.

I wonder if you have a shorting solenoid or an intermittant short somewhere? "EDS total current" sounds like something or a bunch of things is drawing too much total current. I would think about testing all the solenoids in the tranny for resistance. Maybe measure the lines that run down to the tranny for shorts or abnormally low resistance. Secondly, remove and check the current limit circuit in the TCM module for stretched tolerances in resistors and possibily re-cap it. Also make sure that no wires in the tranny are shorting to the body or case. If a solenoid shuttle gets stuck in the valve body, It will draw more current also.(not being able to move) It really looks like a stuck or shorted solenoid. Thank you Heis, I did replace a set of solenoids, used ones, but I did test resistance on them, and they check out ok, I will go ahead and test like you suggested, also, while running DIS this morning, I was only checking EGS, and they I noticed the clustes also had faults, and this is what I saw.....snapshots included....thanks,

It does look like its an electrical problem. It may be an open or faulty connection to the transmission (wire harness) Try cleaning the connection on both ends of the harness. Make sure that the contacts in the connectors have tension. Sometimes they loose their tension with repetitive hot and cold cycles or handling. Still...the Total Current code still rings (to me) either too much current is being drawn or not enough. Signal line disturbed sounds like a bad connection. Have you checked the transmission module for bad solder or faulty caps? When you re-attached the connectors to the solenoids on the valve body, were the connectors tight? Did you re-tension them?
