Whistle Speed sensor "A"

I have a 2002 X5 3.0, it has the p0500 code. evry BMW Ive owned has the speed sensor on the wheel, but rockauto has one that appears to be in/on the transmission. Are there any speed sensors in the trans, or is it only on the rear tire?

And thanks for any/all info

There are speed sensors in the trans, but not in the sense that it is relaying the speed of the car. It is used to measure the roatation of the input shaft with respect to the output shaft.

So I can be safe to assume that the wheels are the issue when the cruise doesn't work and the speedo periodically, correct?

Speed sensor A signal is the one coming from left rear wheel (via ABS module) to instrument cluster (speedo) and General module.
