I would check the left rear where the NAV was to confirm you don't have the TCM. The PO might have left it in there. It's down low. A rectangular silver metal box with, I think, three wire plugged into it. Or you can pull the fuse for it. I can't remember the number. If you do have it, that will kill the power to it.

Incorrect. When wifes FSR failed all speeds worked, it didn't run when car off I think I just used my fuse plug ammeter to discover high drain on that circuit.

Do you remember what circuit this was on? Have a link to a good fuse plug ammeter? Im not so good with electrical. I will try what StephenVA posted above to test a parasitic draw although mine seems random. The X5 was starting every week fine and this AM it was dead with not even the cluster coming on and no clicking from the starter. I also leave the X unlocked because last time when the battery got so low, the alarm starting going off at 3am waking everyone in a panic...

I bought the perfect fuse based ammeter from harbor freight. You pull a fuse plug it Into the fuse socket and put the fuse into the ammeter. Digital readout shows the amperage and can handle at least 30a. I don't have time to track down a link but from my description you'll know when you find it. I've used a few times to track down parasitic drain but it's only full size fuses I'd like to get similar for mini fuses.
