Ridiculous cargurus market value
My old ebay ad: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324297507493 I understand that car is worth what someone is willing to pay but cargurus really pissed me off. When I did the ad they showed market value unavaliable and that made sense as there is very few 4.6is for sale or sold. Now out of nowhere they showed my X5 is worth $5k. If I wanted that I'd just go to carmax. It looks like I might be keeping it after all. My advantage is I don't have to sell it and I sure as hell won't let it go for nothing after 6 years of taking the good care of this beauty.

I think their algorithm is that smart and just takes into account of all X5 in that year/mileage and just average it out. Do Carmax still buy e53s? That is the main reason why I am still hanging onto the old X5, even when it's hardly used anymore - mainly as my "backup" or poor weather car. The car is certainly worth a lot more to me than anyone is willing to pay for it! Other than the oil sensor, there's not a single other fault on the car!

I just checked mine. It’s showing $5000 as well. That is actually good news, considering the last time I checked it was $2500.

Enthusiast vehicles are never priced accurately by standard trade websites. The sale prices of a 4.8is can vary from $3000 to $20000. But a whole lot more are going to be closer $3000 so their "values" are that low. Is what it is.
My "solution" has always been to price a vehicle at what I would part with it for (or slightly over to allow bargaining) regardless of what values are supposed to be from NADA, KBB, etc. Anyone who says "but that's over market value according to X" gets politely asked go look at other examples and then come look at mine. The price difference will become apparent then. Here's what KBB has to say. $3781-$6778 in very good condition.

Actually, I have receipts where PO got a brand new cluster from BMW but of course the real fix is replacing ribbon cable. I already had it done on MID radio but as long as it stays like that I don't want to risk damaging the instrument cluster. |

I have no idea if carmax would take E53 X5. I may as well keep it as I'm tired of tire kickers. |

Every car is different and I'm not expecting to get back my cost on upgrades and repairs but a lot of heavy lifting is done already and ai thought someone would appreciate it.

Since you've already done everything including new tires, its well in your interest to keep it. |
