Another battery drain thread...any input would be great!
Yesterday the battery drained in about a day. I jump started the car and drove it around to recharge it. After I stopped the car and made sure everything in it was off (radio, fan, etc), I could still hear some noise coming out of what appears the front left speaker (or nearby). It was a humming sound, but I felt like I could also hear some radio beats in the background. I have also been having issues with the radio (with navigation) working just whenever it feels like it (turning on/off). So I went in the back and pulled Fuse 72/73/74/75. The sound went away. It was the first time that I actually noticed this phenomenon. Is there a ghost in my car? Any input on what could be happening here? This is pretty much the only issue I have with this car, which is pretty impressive at 189000 miles. I would really love to track down this drain and I am hoping this could be the very first breakthrough. Christian 2003 X5 4.4. |

You have it half fixed already since you know what is staying on! The radio should shut off when the car goes to sleep (even if there is a problem with it) after about 15min. so that would be the next thing to check.
Now that I think about it, I think the radio is able to be activated (by pushing the power button) even with the car still asleep, but even then it should also only stay on for 15 min.
