Yeah, technically I know it can be done, maybe the question I should have asked is do the speaker wires go to the plug on the back of the head unit or does everything come from the BM54 unit?

The reason I want to change is that it's too unreliable, my radio/CD changer only has sound when the car has been running for maybe 20 minutes.

My X5 also has an LPG conversion with the tank in the spare wheel well so getting to the unit is a bit of a pain, seemed like an easier option to bypass it all together unless I'm missing something?, that's why I asked on here, I'm a new owner you guys are the experts.
