Got the temper dot now. I have the PaSoft/BMWScanner software installed. I had it working for a couple of days months ago and then something happened to the USB port on laptop. It only worked on one port for some reason. I must've damaged that port accidentally. Now INPA works on other ports as well, but PaSoft won't for some reason. I'm gonna try again and maybe replace the laptop |

Thanks Overboost for the extra help!
I was able to successfully reprogram the new LCM. Now the old owner had also ran the wire for the stop signal from both stop lights to the tailgate. Which is why, in restoring all the proper lights and wiring, I was wondering which lights are supposed to light up when you press the brake pedal? Only quarter panel lights (and the one on top) or brake lights include those on tailgate as well? After I disconnected the extra wire linking two brake lights on quarter panels, the tail lights on tailgate stopped working. However there's only 2 wires going to their connectors Last edited by Bmwe5320023.0; 02-17-2021 at 07:39 PM. |

Sorry, my pre LCI X5 was a 2001 13 years ago. Mine is now a 2004 with a different configuration from your 2002.

So it looks like I'm missing a wire in my tailgate taillight.
The tailgate has two lights. One for reverse and 1 for tail light. I now understand what the previous owner did. He wired tailgate tail lights to the brake lights. This way the tailgate taillights would like up brighter when braking. I removed these wires and analyzed what's going on. The connector for tail lights has 4 wires. 2 grounds: for reverse light and for tail lights in the tailgate. 1 power for reverse light. NO POWER WIRE FOR TAIL LIGHT. So what the previous owner did, he spliced a power from quarter panel brake light and tail light to the tailgate tail light. This would make all tail lights light up brighter during braking. Now I'm trying to figure out how things should've been originally. Because I only see 2 wires going to the connector. Ground and reverse wire. In this case how is the tailgate tail light supposed to be getting power? |

In this video, at 03:04 minutes, they install new tailgate lights and also have only 2 wires, ground and 1 power wire to power the lights.
https://youtu.be/aZpW4ny1S6g But you can see that they're are clearly 2 bulbs in the tailgate housing! They then test all the lights on the vehicle, and tailgate lights never light up! Only reverse. So is it some kind of extra option?? Do you guys have this light on?? Interesting...this guy got 3 wires https://youtu.be/1TO9Hf6_H3Q It looks like that light is for fog lights. https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...t-2003-x5.html https://xoutpost.com/articles/x5/lig...s-2005-x5.html https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...light-mod.html Last edited by Bmwe5320023.0; 02-18-2021 at 01:46 AM. |
