How To: Re-Sync DDE/EWS with Foxwell NT530. BMW Code 4A63
So some may have read my last post regards having a low battery and the cars immobiliser de-syncing. See here for the original thread: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...w-battery.html So following up on that I thought I would write a quick how-to on the Foxwell NT530 (may work on the 510 and 520) to Re-Sync the modules. STEP ONE Ensure the cars battery is fully charge or even better on a charger STEP TWO Plug in Foxwell and select BMW mode and then find your VIN or manually input your car. Allow the unit to run until you are at the Diagnostic/Service screen Select “Service” STEP THREE Navigate and select “Drive” option STEP FOUR Navigate to “Electronic Car Immobilisation System” and select STEP FIVE Select “DME (DDE) - EWS-II Adjustment” STEP FIVE On the next screen select “option 2” which is starting value adjustment. STEP SIX Follow the on screen instructions..... but when it says start engine it doesn’t tell you you need to remove the key completely and wait 10 seconds. Then the car should start. STEP SEVEN Clean up Codes, go into the DDE/DDM module read the codes 4A63 code will still be there, so clear the code and then rescan you ensure it’s gone. And then a note to myself! NEVER let the battery drain down again lol Hope this helps someone who was in my position. Obviously this is a guide to what I did and any damage to you own cars is your own fault.

Nice follow up! Saw your original post and this issue seems to be very common. And anyone that doesn't have a Foxwell, you are working without a very important tool for your E53. These cars are maintenance wh$#@s, and this is such an amazing little computer for many functions on these cars. I have 2 X5 and an E39 and I use this thing at least once a week on one issue/question a week if not more often. Thanks 'raptor!

I am trying to use the Foxwell NT510 elite to perform this procedure but when I select option 2 in step 5, I get an error from the foxwell tool that says “no communication”. Anyone know what’s up with this? Any workarounds?

Yes mate, some of the X5s seem to be in a Werid limbo between types of module (non-LCI/LCI).
Mine was one of them, so what you need to do is manually put the car In on the Foxwell, don’t use the Smart VIN. And then follow the procedure through. It worked for me as this seems to be the only module on the car that does this. I did drop and email to Foxwell about it and they said it’ll be that BMW most likely just used an older/newer module on my car

So to make that clearer.
In Step 2 don’t select Smart Vin or Imput it by typing in the VIN. Manually input YOUR cars data..... so BMW....X5(e53)......2005.....Diesel/Petrol.....so on and so on. That should work then, if not.... if you car is within a year of the LCI model you can select a differnt year so for example my car is a 2005 and the LCI was 2004. I would select 2004 and then see if I could connect to the module.
