Can anyone help???

Previously I tried to have the bottom plastic section of my sport steering wheel replaced with a dark wood section, but when the dealer installed the wood trim it did not reach all the way back to my steering wheel.

Last week the dealer tried to install the wood and leather wheel from the accessory catalogue and the black plastic trim from the bottom section of my sport wheel was too deep. So they left with the stock wheel on the car.

I read the article on the titanium replacement and worked fine???

Am I missing something? When they ordered the first trim piece they used my vin number. Does the sport steering wheel differ from year to year? I could understand that in 04 after the face lift.
