This will give you a better explanation than me butchering it and you can decide how user friendly it sounds to you. https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ith-NCS-Expert That software you can download for free but you would have to install it on a laptop (Which can be a pain in the ass sometimes) and you would need to get an ODB cable from Amazon to plug into your car. The cable is about $40 in our money. Carly is a bluetooth module you can use with your phone that will read codes and do coding for you. https://www.mycarly.com/plan/?c=CA&b=bmw&n=BMW It's $85 plus shipping HOWEVER you can get a discount code to use from many youtubers like Samcrac that will knock off a good amount of money. There's also the ProTool from Bimmergeeks. Does coding and diagnostics but I don't know much else about it. https://www.bimmergeeks.net/protool Either way you look at it you're going to have to spend some money and I personally would rather end up with a tool than having some dude come by and code things for me (assuming you're paying for the coding service). There's plenty of tutorials and experienced people that can help so I wouldn't be too worried about doing it myself. Also, what you're wanting to do is very light duty coding from my understanding so the odds of you causing catastrophic damage should be minimal as long as you follow the proper steps. |

It looks like I didn't scroll down on the page to the part where it says... Coding Support Most Bmw, Mini or Rolls Royce Models EXCEPT older chassis such as E46, E39, E38, E53, E85 and anything older. What a donkey I am |

So you live in T.O. And can't find someone to code the E53? Gotta be a joke.
If you're searching for someone to work for free I understand, but otherwise there are plenty around this city, I can rhyme off 10 great Indies, + all the dealers but am not doing any advertising. Now, it's possible they're telling you they can't do it, meaning these mods should not be done. So be careful and watch for safety features. Daytime running lights and illuminated side markers, and seat belt chime and dash light are mean to annoy you enough so you put on your seat belt. This is all legal requirement.

ok so a successful update.
I downloaded and installed BMW Scanner 1.4. Also ordered the reader tool from amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/iSaddle-Scanne.../dp/B008RHJTS2 I then followed this youtube video to install the driver for it to run on newer windows PC's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RonaL-HLKjA Everything worked perfectly. I was able to make all the changes I wanted to do. Im so glad I don't need anyone to do it for me. Only thing I couldn't find using BMW Scanner is where the option for the key-in ignition chime/gong is.... also, some of the modules I cant access. is this because they are not available on the e53, or because I need to open up the reader and connect/soldier some of the connections together like in some tutorials/videos i found online? you know what annoys me Perrier, you.... probably also wears his mask in the car with his side markers. got that extra large rearview mirror too. Typical Canadian, mind your business, bro. the joke is your input on this thread.

To answer your other inquiry, the gong/chime option is in there too. Should be in the KOMBI. But congratulations on getting it working!
