New to Xout Post and saying Hi

Hi All,

I have been on Bimmerpost for awhile, but they do not have an e53 section. Xout post and the e53 section in particular look very lively which is awesome.

My girlfriend and I picked up our first e53 about a month ago. Right now we have the e53, 2016 m235i, 2015 f80 m3, and I have a s54 powered e36 race car.

We bought it from the original owner with 180k on it. It is a Titan Silver 3.0 non sport pack AT. The decision to buy the e53 was a very spur of the moment one. One of my good friends was moving to NYC and had just sold his 911. He needed a car quickly and we decided to sell him our 05 525i, which was kind of our "extra car". This prompted the search for a new extra car. E53s have always intrigued me, and we thought that we might as well get a car that can tow as well (so I don't have to borrow my mom's f15 x5). When I found a one owner, and well cared for e53 I was very excited. They seem hard to find in this condition now.

I really didn't expect to love this car as much as I do. I find myself driving it just as much as drive the "Fun Cars". I now understand why everyone loves e53s so much.

Plans for the car aren't crazy. I picked up a complete oem tow hitch off eBay for $500 so that I can tow the e36 with it. For my other cars I tend to downsize the diameter of the factory wheels, but for the x5 I can't help myself from wanting a set of 4.6 or 4.8 wheels.

So far the only issue I have had is a faulty drivers front door lock actuator which set the alarm off at 3am. I plan on changing the trans, transfer case, and diff fluids before I do any towing. The 5 speed seems happy right now, no unwanted bumps or hard shifts. I am very familiar with m54s and they are usually reliable which is nice.

I'm looking forward to having this forum as a resource.

I will attach some pics of all the cars.

New to Xout Post and saying Hi

Nice intro.

My e53 is going strong at 195 on the clock, save the cats getting old enough to through weak cat codes.

Address any leaky seals on the engine as soon as they come up. We just traded in wife's 3.0 e53 towards tax and title on E70 2012; was leading so bad I didn't want to sell to anybody I knew because it needed a bunch of work.
