Saying hello
I been lurking on this forum for quite some time (silent observer). I got my 2004 X5 3.0i with 117k last year (121k now). It was in an okay condition but needed some work. It's a hobby car and i enjoy working on it. Took it for a few trips already and I love driving it. Hope to keep it as long as possible. Things i did so far. 1. New belts & tensioners, pullys 2. Rebuild VANOS with anti rattle rings + value cover + chain tensioner 3. DISA rebuild. (Kit) 4. CCV (took off intake mainfold and cleaned the intake all new o-rings and gaskets) 5. OHG (oil housing gasket + preasure switch and oil temp) 6. Complete cooling system Overhul (when intake was off, all hoses and 2 hard pipes, radiator, expension tank, AT thermostat, water pump, thermostat and many o-rings and coolant temp in head). (Small leak) 7. AC overhul (AC didn't work at all) 8. New alternator , seemed like it's on its way out. 9. New fuel pump (preventive) 10. Rear brake lines (the steel pipe burst, so new calipers and lines) 11. AT fluid change with filter, diff fluid, TC fluid. Stuff to do 1. Front brakes (calipers and flexibale hoses, rotors and pads) 2. Front suspension (control arms, struts, tie rods) 3. Power steering (pump is bad) Already have the parts for the above just need time. Current: had a drain line kink on passenger side in front which caused a leaked inside the car and glove box. The LCM was okay. I cleaned the drains changed the sunroof seal and followed advice on this forum to make sure it won't kink anymore. I pulled the carpets to dry it, they had a lot of water, massive amounts. Anyway decided to change it to black got good good deal on used ones. Run some wires for speakers since it was easy without carpets. Now I am in process to paint/dye some stuff. And install new speakers and amp. I have the Avin 4 head unit installed already. A lot of this work was possible with help of this forum and 50skid videos. Just wanted to say i appreciate everyone positing diys, questions and solutions and i hope one day i can contribute back to this community. The required pic: |
