180 ft·lb is no joke. Seat of pants mechanics likely hit half of that if using normal size breaker bar

80stech is on a distinguished road
My point was none of that matters if the bolts are rusty. Any lubed torque spec or modification of torque for lubed bolts also assumes CLEAN bolts.

Absolutely. I just refurbished a transfer case and I had to run a thread cleaning tap through all the 17 bolt holes or I would never get the torque correct.

In some cases I just use lubricated and the 75% torque because the bolts tend to self lubricate under a motor.
