Manual unlock and alarm

Hello

Long story short: my keyhole lock wasn't working, key will just turn freely in both ways.
Easy diag (the stick part that goes in the white hole and turn the system was missing... ). Ebay repair kit for 10 bucks got it sorted.

Now the manual lock is working, i can lock and unlock the car manually.
Problem is, it doesn't affect the alarm..

When i lock the doors manually with the key, the alarm is not set (clown light off, same behavior as if you press the lock button inside the car).

When i lock with the remote, it activate the alarm like it should.

But when unlock manually with key, clown light stays on and you get a nice welcoming song once you open the door.

What's missing in the process? I thought the manual un/lock should have the same behavior as the remote one.

This usually means a problem in the door lock actuator or the cable between it and the driver window switch or the window switch box. The circuit board inside gets corroded from rain coming in the window.

Damn that looks like a bit more than a 10 buck part... cascade of expenses that car.

Any chance to repair the actuator instead of replacing? I had a look at the window switch cables, and it's...all here. Not sure how it can go wrong there.
Maybe the actuator side cable got corroded?

Because if it already works for un/lock means it's at least half working?

Inside the actuator all potted. Inside the window switch is where to look for corrosion. It comes apart.

This is also a coding option. Alarm arming/disarming can be set as only with remote or with remote and door lock cylinder.

You mean with inpa or another diag it can be modified?
A bit dumb to set it as option, what if you locked with remote and turned the alarm on, then your remote died. No way to get inside without waking up the neighborhood by unlocking manually?

I'll have a deeper look inside the windows switch.

Can be coded with for example NSC expert (part of INPA package).

The downside of disarming alarm with lock cylinder that if someone could pick the lock open it would also disable the alarm. That's why it's a coding option and IIRC for example UK versions have it this way that alarm can only be used with remote.

Part of Car & Key Memory options.

Interesting document.

But then how do you turn off the alarm once it's triggered after entering the car by manual unlock.
For example you lock it with remote, alarm armed, your remote dies (felt in water..) and only solution left is to open manually. Does putting the key in ignition disable the ringing alarm?
