Central Locking Issue

Another day, another thread. I tried to search but couldn't find anything readily under "Central Locking" that matched my symptoms.

E53 3.0i 5-spd

Symptoms:
- Central locking in the center console does not work
- Manual locking/unlocking works just fine
- Trunk button on fob works, but if car is locked, then the trunk opens and the alarm goes off
- Lock/unlock on fob does not work

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the board. Nice, 5 speed. I saw an X3 6 speed for sale down the street. It's rare to manuals in a big city.

Check all your GMIII fuses. Fuse #14-5A, #27-20A, #41-5A and #60-30A. Mine has some of the same symptoms. All the fuses are okay. I did replace #27 which was burned. I now suspect my body General Module III is bad. As soon as I can park it for 2 weeks or less. I'm having the GM checked/repaired if necessary.

Yes, so I should've clarified. I did send the GM to Scott (I believe that was his name) when I purchased the car last year. For a while everything worked, and then suddenly the locks themselves stopped working.

I need to check the fuses to see if they could be a possible culprit.

If it was not for wipers not working without the GMIII, mine would be out for repairs. I may have a second one cloned. I picked a spare cheaply on ebay. However, I don't have coding capabilities. I see a guy in Houston that posts on Craigslist. If he can clone a GMIII, I'll drive down there. Plus have some stuff coded too. Especially the temp gauge.
