Need some advice for which AVIN unit to go with?

https://avinusa.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=+E53+BMW+X5

I've read great reviews for Avant 4 and it looks more factory.

My understanding is that 10.25 unit is similar but no buttons, bigger screen and it doesn't look OEM.

Mine has NAV but no DSP, only Hifi option so I'm thinking to go with these options:

Please choose CPU platform
PX6 | 4GB RAM | 64GB ROM | 6-core CPU | Android 10
Add optional IBUS USB module (includes paid IBUS app license)?
No - I do not have DSP
What side is your steering wheel on?
Left-hand drive (AVN4416-LHD)
Do you have the OEM factory DSP amplifier?
No
Do you have / had the factory navigation?
YES - add required Quadlock 6M Navigation Extension Cable (SKU: QDBAV6MC)
Add optional Advanced DSP Sound Processor Chipset with 15 EQ Band
No - I understand the DSP chipset can Not be added later.
Add optional AutoPlay Dongle w/ Support for CarPlay and A-Auto
No
Optional Accessories
None
iGO GPS Maps MicroSD Card (No internet required)
None
Add optional Tire Pressure Monitoring System (Model: TPMS-USB)
No
Add optional Digital TV Tuner
No

My understanding is also that I can buy ibus app much cheaper from original source:

https://shop.ibus-app.de/en/shop/lic...pp-obc-license

TIA!

I don't know that the ibus app is that much cheaper from the source. You need to buy the license and the dongle, and euros are more than dollars. With shipping, probably not worth it.

I personally sprang for the qualcomm 6125.

Also, I'd spring for the DSP chip. It's cheap and could add real value at some point.

Yeah, I forgot about dongle but it's still cheaper although not much.
I order stuff from Europe fairly often and people forget that US residents don't pay 20% European VAT (tax) so it covers the shipping and then some if item is small.
But still, the difference is not enough in this case so I agree with you.
Thanks for your input!

Yeah. The bigger issue is the highly variable delivery timeline. I regularly buy from Europe, and sometimes i get cheap delivery in two days, and sometimes it's expensive delivery in two months.

So.. You DO have the Nav but you don't have DSP? Was that a possible combination? Very possible I'm wrong but I don't think I've seen a setup with the Nav screen but without DSP.

Also, no reason to pay for the snapdragon unless you want to put a SIM and have internet without using WiFi or tethering to your phone.

The Avin does have one problem I've not figured out which is how to change volume at input sources.

It's a good unit!

Yeah, according to my own research and this guide, everything checks out that I don't have DSP:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qVB...-qwjAm1ep/view

I can't find option on my screen, no subwoofer anywhere and my build sheet shows S676.

You have to go into factory settings with the password 123. From there you can change the volumes on your inputs

I went with the stock looking unit. I like how if someone doesn't know what they're looking at it looks stock. I didn't add the DSP chipset either. I'm not an audiophile and had no plans to upgrade my speakers which would take advantage of the DSP. The equalizer that comes with it is enough for me and is more than the stock non-DSP system. I'd get the IBUS app and dongle from Avin. It ships from in the US so it all arrives together. Get a rear view camera too. You're going to be running wiring front to back anyway, one more is no big deal and worth having.

There shouldn't be any wiring to the rear at all for the regular head unit. There wasn't in my install.
