(Solved) Transmission Failsafe Mode

So, a couple months ago I bought a pretty junky e53. The main problem was the transmission was in failsafe mode and there was codes for egs not found, egs signal line disturbed, egs timeout.

Solved the problem today and fixed it. This isn't related to the egs at all, but it was from the pre cat o2 sensor wires shorting out and blowing a 30 amp fuse that controls the power to the egs.

Fixed my wires and replaced the fuse. I now have a working transmission.

What is strange to me is I checked those fuses that are next to the ecu and egs and I was certain they were fine. But somehow I missed one.

I only caught this because I was trying to troubleshoot the o2 sensor problems today.

Isn't it nice when you are staring down a major problem that seems like an inevitable thousands of dollars to fix, and it turns out to be a $2 fuse?

Don't you worry, there's easily a couple grand worth of work for me to sort out overall.

I'll be refreshing the entire cooling system.
Needs front cv boots.
Tires.
Exhaust.... I'll just delete the crushed mufflers.
Headers.... the cats were gutted.
Plugs
Coils
Fuel filter
M50 intake mod
M56 valve cover mod
Tranny flush and filter
Diff flush
Android head unit
Window tint
Oh...... fix the panoramic window track...f'ing bs... wife likes it though....f'ing bs again

Interesting…I’m fighting the same thing. Fuse 4 next to the TCM is shorted. Scanner shows O2 problem.

I need to pull mine and see what’s what.

Hope I’m that lucky.

The wires on mine were burnt. PO, or whoever worked on it, didn't properly route the wires around the top of the valve cover. Instead they were laying on the exhaust manifold all crispy and crunchy.

Yesterday I was like, let me troubleshoot and fix these o2 wires and sensors so I feel better about getting something fixed. Then, boom. My transmission started working right after I replaced that fuse.

So, if that fuse on yours is blown the culprit could hopefully be just some shorted out o2 wires blowing it.

It's interesting to me that the same fuse that powers the o2 sensors powers that egs.
