Garage door power wire/camera install

Which wire should have power? I assume the larger one. I grounded the power adapter to an overhead console screw. I don't think it's grounding properly. I'll probably remove the entire console and ground to a metal screw. There was no place use my voltmeter leads. The leads were too short to reach any metal. I didn't realize how much trim covered all the metal. Anyway, the forward camera is installed. The wiring goes through the headliner into the console. A small end wire pin or electric clamp will be used for connecting power.

The three pin connector (X1560) has: -

1 - +VE (12v) via fuse F5 (7.5A) - GN/RT
2 - Connection to LCM (Night Lights) - GR/RT
3 - Ground connection (31L) -BR/SW

HTH...

wpoll, nice reply with information. Can that ground wire handle the camera without blowing a fuse? I can use electrical wire pins to insert from the backside.

Ground wires are not (normally) fuse protected, so yeah, it should handle camera power return current.

wpoll,
Thanks again for wiring information. After seeing a crazy F150 truck driver almost rear end a semi truck after crossing three traffic lanes, I decided it was time to wire up the camera. It was mounted already. The power adapter was there too. It was connected to the garage opener wires as you mentioned. The wires have no problem powering the little camera.

My electrical tool box didn't have back probe insert small enough to fit. The wiring is tight. I used a voltmeter to confirm key power. The wires were carefully stripped about an inch back. The power adapter wires were wrapped around power and ground. Electrical tape and tie wraps made it look nice and neat.
