When I get this overpriced junkyard module from honest Al’s
suck-ass parts company, should I just forward it to Module Masters?

Will the module be plug and play from the junkyard?

If I need a coding, who does that and how much?

Just get inpa..... it's free. You can troubleshoot and reset most adaptations with it.

You'll need PA soft to code it. It's easy to use. You can get that from Amazon. PA Soft comes with the cable.

For inpa get your cable from bimmergeeks.

On the abs module I removed from a junk x5 I just installed it, pulled it up in PA soft and changed the vin to match. Then I reset the module using inpa. Works fine. That was back in September. So, it's been good for 5 months. No issues.

Don’t know if it’s related but I had similar problems sent module off came back with no faults found. I checked the pump pressure and it was 8 bar. Can do this on Foxwell. Googled the p/n and found the sensor is fitted to a number of vehicles. I took one off an VW Passat cos it’s on top and easy to remove. Once fitted pressure was way up ( can’t remember the numbers) no more lights or problems. While lights were on I had no driving or braking problems, just lots of lights.

Check 2 other things that will cause the trifecta. Wheel sensors and steering wheel alignment sensor.

Rewrite VIN on ABS

Pretty sure I used NCSExpert to rewrite the VIN, pretty simple. Resetting the steering angle sensor was a bit trickier, couldn't find anything in my INPA version and I eventually used ISTA.

Can't code squat in INPA... it's not meant for coding.

I would like to get my inspection done.

Sure I think you should just install it. If it is not the original that came with the X it just needs recoding to your VIN. The trifecta lights will continue until it gets recoded.

Resetting steering angle is not a coding exercise. It is to re-calibrate the DSC to work with its sensors. Just did this on my friends Accord and it is merely so that the car knows what the dead ahead position is.

My two versions of INPA (one on a desktop installed 2016, one on a laptop from 2020) seem to only allow reading DTCs and some live data, nothing else. Anyone have different experience?

Moment of truth

The used but not too bad looking module showed up today.

I can install it right now…… or send if off the Module Masters for
a warranty overhaul. Since my back is killing me this week, I’m tempted
to ship it off. If the trifecta will disappear and I can get a state inspection, then I’m more inclined to put it in.

WWOGD?
