Problem with AV Input/Output

Hi Guys.
Have any of you installed one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-3-5-7-X5-R...QQcmdZViewItem

I installed one today and found that I couldn't get the video signal from a DVD player to sync. The audio is fine. I tried setting the screen to PAL, NTSC, SECAM etc but it made no difference.

I'm sure the cable is ok and fitted correctly. If any of you chaps have had a similar problem and managed to resolve it can you let me know.

Many thanks.

Looking at the picture it only seems to have audio sockets. The video lead by convention should be yellow. I suppose it could be mono sound and video.

I fitted one of these recently and didn't have a problem getting the DVD player to work. It may be worth checking the pinout of the lead just to make sure it had been put together correctly.
Follow the link below and at the botom of the page is the pin out of the TV module for reference.

Thanks for the info Laurence. I'm sure the pin outs are correct. I also tried another cable where I had to manually replace the pins. It did the same.

I think I might have a duff video module. Any suggestions how I can test the AV. I could ask the dealer to confirm but I not sure what they will say once they know I'm connecting non BMW approved gear. Any suggestions?

When I tested mine I used a domestic DVD player (i.e. Sony with power lead run from the house). I didn't however test the audio lead as I am using the aux input on the radio - have you tried it with the audio lead disconnected?
As the video I was using was a UK version its output is in PAL and the screen worked just fine.

Also, do you have the AV input at the back of the centre console.
If you do suspect the video module, get the dealer to test it at this point (obviously with the lead you purchased remove).

I did a test without audio connected same result. I think you're right. I'll uninstall everything and get the dealer to check it over.

Thanks for the advice. Will let you know how I get on.
