Car cover recommendations?

My X5 has been booted out the garage. She now has to sleep out. Any recommendation for car cover to protect from the elements?

Here in the extremely dusty desert your car will be bare metal quickly from dust between cover and body.

In the tropics or extremely rainy areas you will find mold everywhere.

If your area is neither of those, then a original or made to order cover is perfect.

Just stay away from those "fits" BMW, Mercedes, Ford, etc generic ones.

Motion plus dust = sandpaper. Found that out the hard way with phone cases. Nearly invisible amount of dust got inside the case and shredded the surface finish off the phone.

How long will it be outside? My '83 C10 has one from www.carcovers.com. It has the top of line cover. It's held up good to one winter week storm. Rain and brutal hot Texas summer. I remove it after rain to let it dry. I plan to buy another for my full size ram. Mostly for summer sun protection.

Thanks. Any experience with this one? Price is reasonable at $189 with lifetime warranty.

FWIW... here's their BBB page: https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/sugar-land...-0915-90053489

I wrestled with the idea of getting a cover a few months ago. I mainly need it to help slow the effects of sitting out in the sun, and pretty much came to the conclusion that either the OEM cover or the nice/expensive covercraft covers (or similar) would make sense as something that would last for several years. Or, the other tactic is to just buy a cheapie knowing you'll end up replacing it every year or two. I bought a Budge branded cover for under $40 IIRC.

I ultimately went with the cheapie for a couple reasons - first, I have a Thule roof rack on my X5 which would not allow a custom-fitted cover to work. Second, the cheap cover is probably easier to take on/off which hopefully means I'll actually put it on more often (as my truck sits in the driveway naked at the moment!)

Edit: Felt shamed.... cover now installed

AM.
