In this video he shows you how to check the rear lower ball joint. When I check mine, I use my floor jack and position it under the rear control arm. Raise the control arm till the tire is off the ground, then I would check for any wobble. If it does, even a little, I replace it. Hope this helps. |

Just a quick update...
This turned out to be a fail The tech that was doing the alignment did a thorough inspection of the suspension components and noticed the rear adjustment tabs were worn away. The front right ball joint had a little bit of play in it but the front was still within spec. The back on the other hand was way out of spec and he wasn't confident that he would be able to get it back where it should be. Around here an alignment is $130 so instead of throwing that money up in the air I decided to refresh the worn components first. I ended up paying $65 for what they called a suspension inspection which I was semi ok with. They did spend over an hour getting things checked out...but I sure do miss my mechanic friends back in the city. "Is your hoist free? Good I'm coming over" |
