Congrats on the fix buddy!
I don't think I've come across parasitic draws due to a bad GM yet Definitely good to know! |

Yup. A shop in Austin spent 6 hours on electrical troubleshooting. They were not sure about a fix. Their recommendation was to swap out the GM and EWS modules. I deleted the EWS myself. The remaining no sleep and F60 issues were solved by removing F60. Amp draw was down to 11 mA. F60 feeding power one way, the GMIII had to be bad. My cousin who's been a BMW tech for 17+ years was stumped too. He's seen plenty of parasitic amp draws. Normally traced to other modules. I gave him a list of items replaced or swapped out. He didn't waste time unplugging other common amp draw modules or FSR. With a spare GMIII handy, he swapped it in and coded it for features. He tested sleep over night, 18 mA!
I learned how to do voltage drops across fuses. Plus how read detailed wiring diagrams with all the above problems. I'm a better DIY home garage tech. As we all know, something else fails after fixing it all. Now, the right xenon lamp is out. Fixing that on birthday, Thursday.

I've seen a few quite similar cases where failed GM caused drain but yes it's not a common problem. I still have a feeling the EWS module had nothing to do with the problem and this would have been cured with just replacing GM as a root cause.

You are probably right. Not having software or a way to code a GM, plus no experience, I deleted it. I can easily undo the EWS delete. I have the OEM DME. Removing the hidden bypass and fuse and connecting the module restore it.
