I agree the Avin and Dynavin options are way too expensive for a "no name" company using android. Specially when you do the US exchange, shipping and potential duties and customs fees.

There's a really cheap Android unit on Amazon you might want to try out. The reviews aren't great but I think if you have realistic expectations of what you're getting into then it might suit your current needs.

Did I mention it's $100...Canadian

There's several versions of the same thing so pick the cheapest one at the time and if you hate it then send it back. Just make sure you get one that's fulfilled by Amazon aka PRIME.

Ok, that’ll be $150 so far … keep going, OP, if you opt for that … .

+1 on this. I have an Avin. I connect it to the hot spot on my phone, downloaded Waze and there's my nav. It's better than the nav they sell you with the unit because it has real time traffic info. Highly recommend spending the money on this unit. You don't need carplay. I bought it with mine and after briefly using it I dumped it. I'll send you mine if you really must have carplay. I didn't like it because it kept taking over and I didn't really need it with the unit connected to my phone.

Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on the DSP capability either unless you have a really good ear and upgraded speakers. Or your e53 already has DSP. You definitely want the IBUS app and Resler attachment. Then you can see all of your on board computer info.

My X5 has stock DSP so the extra expense is apparently a must. I like the look and capability of the system, but it still runs me almost $700 CAD with shipping, so I’ll have to make due until I’ve done all the mechanical work on my list!

Thanks for the tips everyone
