Question Clear Bra Installation

Did anyone install the clear bra recently?
What is the reasonable price? or is it possible to DIY?

The best quote i got in north Cal is 695 including the hood, upper bumper, mirrors, and headlamps.

695 DOLLARS!?!? I bought mine for $65 and after washing and waxing my X, installed it in under and hour.

I paid close to that. I have the www.xpel.com clear bra. They use 3M material. Do not suggest DIY. If you make a mistake and have to redo it, your cost will be more than what you pay installer. my .02.

I have installed several of these myself- the XPEL product. The first one I did myself I had to re-do. The second one I had to piece together becuase I aligned it wrong on the hood. The third one went reasonably smooth. The fourth and fifth went near perfect. There is a severe learning curve here- If you aren't going to do a few, let someone with some experience do it. You can go to www.xpel.com and look at the pricing for the materials, and every item has a "star" rating for difficulty. Anyone can put on a 1 star unit, 3-4 stars get tricky to manage.

The up-side is that the damn things work! I had my first one on a Grand Cherokee, and the leading edge of the hood had NO damage after 80000 miles.

FYI the raw materials not including install will cost approx $320 for an '02 X5 3.0.

I just had the XPEL clear bra installed for around $550. This includes the hood, bu,ber, headlights and mirror. So far so good.

Get professional install, so you'll have someone to blame in case something goes wrong. I had a small bubbled edge that I had to have my guy comeback to fix; he offered a lifetime warranty, so I took advantage.

I paid around $500 for bumper, hood, & side mirrors. I saved about $100 b/c I didn't get the headlights done; I thought that was a waste since its not painted.

Also, be sure to shop around, b/c there can be some huge swings in the labor.

Could someone post a pic of this on a vehicle - I was hoping for a "real person" picture vs. one from the factory website, because that will show me how it looks in the real world vice a perfectly lighted and composed shot to show it at its absolute best. Thanks!

rebound- it is very hard to see in a photo. However, if you are looking at the car at the right angle, you can see the difference in the surface between the paint and the clear bra. IMHO it is much better than a smoke colored plastic deflector.
